As Giving Tuesday approaches, we are reminded of the many needs in our community. While many of us spent Thanksgiving with friends and family, nearly 8,000 kids in foster care in Tennessee gathered around a table that didn’t feel like their own – with staff members, foster parents, or caseworkers.
We want to change that.
THE NEED IS GREAT
Through the I Belong Project™, we work to create a different story for the nearly 450 kids in foster care in Tennessee in need of permanent, adoptive homes. They are seeking forever families and their place to belong.
Due to an unprecedented need, we will film 50 more children than expected this year… including 24 kids next week! This increase reflects both the proven success of the I Belong Project™ videos (they work — kids are finding families!) and, heartbreakingly, the high number of children in foster care who are still waiting for adoptive families.
Each filming experience — including a day of fun, staff, gear, photography, videography, editing, and a full year of child-specific recruitment — costs $1,500 per child. To close the funding gap and ensure every one of these children has their best chance at finding a family, we need to raise $36,000 by the end of the year.
