NOVEMBER IS ADOPTION AWARENESS MONTH
America’s Kids Belong works to dramatically improve the experiences and outcomes for kids in foster care. Throughout November we focus our attention on youth in need of permanent, adoptive families. Through the I Belong Project®, kids have the opportunity to share their personalities, interests, dreams, and hopes for the future in their own voices. Throughout the month, we’ll share their videos and invite you to watch, share, and consider how you might play a part in helping them find belonging. Whether you feel called to explore adoption or simply share a child’s story with someone in your community, your response matters. It only takes one connection to change a child’s story.
Be one more person who sees their story, one more person who shares it.

If you are considering adoption, we encourage you to become a foster parent. 80% of kids adopted from foster care are done so by the families who already are, and have been, their foster parents. While we are not a licensing or child-placement agency, we walk alongside the individuals and couples doing this critical work. To start, we recommend you:
- Review the requirements of foster parents in your state
- Explore the Fostering Front Door to read articles and watch videos to help answer your questions about becoming a foster parent in your state

This National Adoption Month, we’re reminded that changing a child’s story starts with one more person willing to say yes. One more person who shares a video, one more person who opens their home, one more business that supports a foster family, one more faith community that becomes a safe place for foster and adoptive families, one more person who finds a meaningful way to show up for kids in foster care.
