Virtual Foster Care and Adoption Q&A Panel

Have you ever wondered what it’s really like to foster or adopt in Tennessee? Maybe you’ve felt a tug to get involved but aren’t sure where to start — or you’ve got questions no website can truly answer.

We invite you to attend our Virtual Q&A Panel — a safe, welcoming space to hear real stories from local foster and adoptive parents, child welfare experts and our staff to ask your questions. The goal is to share accurate information and authentic stories. Join us during National Adoption Awareness Month for a special adoption-focused panel. The event is free, RSVP at the link below.

📅 Date: Thursday, November 13
🕕 Time: 6:00 p.m. CT
💻 Location: Online (Zoom link provided after registration)

Our Virtual Q&A Panels are designed to help potential foster/adoptive parents learn more about the process from people who are living it. Each event features a panel of current and former foster parents who share their honest experiences — the challenges, the joys, and the lessons they’ve learned along the way. You’ll also hear from child welfare experts who can guide you toward next steps, connect you with local resources, and answer your practical questions about fostering and adoption in Tennessee.

You can attend anonymously off-camera. So, come as you are – ready to listen or ask all the questions you have. Questions like:

  • Can I foster or adopt if I’m single?
  • How will my biological children react?
  • What if my partner isn’t as convinced to start fostering?
  • How do you handle saying goodbye to a child who has been placed in your care?

Holly Nichols

Holly wears many hats — foster mom, adoptive mom, biological mom, wife, homeschooler, and home baker. A former RN now in a season of rest, Holly brings warmth and honesty to her story. She’ll share what it’s like to balance family life, faith, and fostering while running a business from her home.

Her journey reminds us that you don’t have to have it all figured out to make a difference — just a willing heart and open hands.

Laura Mitchell

Laura’s foster and adoption journey began after returning from Africa, when she felt called to meet the needs of kids right in her own city. Her home has become a place of healing and hope for children ages 4 to 14.

Laura describes fostering as having “a front row seat to watch God do beautiful work” — even in the hard and exhausting days. Her story offers a powerful glimpse of faith, resilience, and the joy of saying yes. Hear from Laura in the video below!
