Malania loves to snack, and she’s a pretty adventurous eater!
Although Malania is non-verbal, she finds many ways to communicate, from ASL to a communication board. She can be bashful at times, and will hide her face in her hands if she feels like she’s getting too much attention. She enjoys helping around the house with simple tasks like clearing the dishes after a meal. Direct instructions are helpful for her, and if done consistently, Malania can complete tasks without being asked.
Malania loves to snack, and she’s a pretty adventurous eater who can feed herself with minimal assistance. (She’s especially a fan of peanut butter and blueberries — but not together!) Malania enjoys being outside on the swings or trampoline. Sometimes, she’ll just lie on her back and look at the sky. Musical and light-up toys are also a big hit with this girl! She has her very own keyboard that she takes just about everywhere, she’s always playing something!
Malania would do best in a two-parent home, or a single-parent family with plenty of support. She interacts better with older children who are more independent. Parents will need to be especially patient with Malania, and encourage her to communicate using the tools available to her. It would be ideal if her adoptive family knows or is willing to learn ASL.
In addition, although not a requirement, Malania’s team believes she would do best in a home that has experience with children on the spectrum. Prospective families should not have pets, as Malania does not do well with animals. Parents should be prepared and willing to advocate for Malania’s educational and emotional needs over time. Interested families should understand the impact that trauma can have on a child.
