I want to have a place where like kids my age can go instead of doing something bad, or getting locked up, or something like that. Like, they feel like, oh, if I go here I’ll be OK.
Ask Kaylee to describe herself, and she’ll say she’s a nice, smart person who always looks out for the people around her. Perfect example: She recently played on her school’s basketball team as a point guard, and was as focused on helping out the newer players whenever they needed it as she was on her actual basketball skills!
She’s very athletic and enjoys spending time after school running or lifting weights in the gym; it’s important to Kaylee that she takes care of herself, mind, body, and spirit. Kaylee enjoys the sense of friendship and community she’s found attending church as well.
Kaylee would do well in either a one- or two-parent home and would love a forever family with older brothers or sisters she can look up to. She does best in a stable, calm environment where she can feel safe and loved. Parents who make education a priority are ideal. She hopes for parents who want to go to her sporting events and other activities and cheer her on. Kaylee is eager to be adopted, but wants to make sure that her adoptive family understands that she will always love her birth family. Trauma-informed parenting that focuses on connection will be important for Kaylee. Interested families should understand the impact trauma can have on children.
