Dakota is an outgoing youth who is full of energy. He really enjoys adult attention, and actively participates in visits with his caseworker, his adoption specialist and his CASA worker. Dakota enjoys being outdoors, however, he also loves indoor activities such as building with Legos and reading. He really likes animals, and talks in an animated fashion about animals that he has bonded with in previous placements.
He enjoys the ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ books, Anime, and “Big Nate” books. He enjoys board games such as ‘Sorry’, ‘Clue’ and ‘Trouble’. Dakota likes following sports, and especially likes Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors. He has an interest in arts and crafts, and has found that coloring is a very calming activity for him, and a great coping skill when he is feeling overwhelmed due to his chronic history of neglect and trauma. Dakota will continue to need a lot of educational supports in the classroom, although he has seen a significant improvement in this area. He needs a forever family that can help him achieve small successes academically, and that will provide close supervision and clear boundaries in the community and world.
Dakota’s ideal family would live in Kentucky (or a surrounding state) where he can maintain some type of contact with one of his biological brothers. He would really like to be placed in a rural setting where there is access to pets and other animals. Are you the right family to help Dakota learn and grow? Contact the Kentucky Adoption Profile Exchange (KAPE) to find out if Dakota would be a good fit for your family.
He is waiting for a family to call his ‘forever,’ and he is really hoping for a family that has dogs. He is tired of moving and would like to have a family and stability, and to never have to move again!
