Made To Belong Trauma Training

Thanks for your interest in becoming a trauma-informed caregiver.

This course is a valuable way to advance your understanding about what trauma is, how it manifests and how, by becoming trauma informed, you can help to change the experiences and outcomes for kids in foster care. This is true whether you are a foster parent, hope to become one, or are a care provider in a childcare, school or faith community.

Trauma Trainer Krista Petty

Krista Petty

National Director, Foster Friendly
America’s Kids Belong

Krista is the Foster Friendly Communities National Director for America’s Kids Belong, and a foster and adoptive mom. Over the past 30 years, she and her husband, Steve, have worked together in Children, Youth and Family Ministry in a variety of settings—from church ministry to mentoring families experiencing homelessness and foster care. While serving in a church where nearly 50 percent of the children had experienced adoption, foster care or trauma, Krista and Steve began implementing strategies to strengthen trust, reduce triggers and educate volunteers and families on the impact of trauma.

Krista has worked for Leadership Network, Group Publishing and several nonprofit ministries and churches. She is certified in Results-Based Conversations Facilitation and Strategic Planning, Mental Health First Aid, and National Adoption Competency Training.

Krista and Lindy Green Johnson brought their complementary experiences together to co-create Made to Belong
