“There’s a ton of trauma in the stories of pretty much all of my children now. They have to live with that and deal with that and we have to try to parent them in certain way a that meets their needs.”
Courtney Williams, a foster and adoptive mom who works for Colorado’s Kids Belong, shares from her experience insights around trauma and parenting. “Trauma is something that affects most (not all), foster and adoptive kiddos pretty significantly at one point or another.” And while there is opportunity for incredible healing and growth, Courtney is very real about the heartache and loss that impacts her family and the kids in their care as they journey this road together.
